Monitoring Server Resources

Keeping an eye on your server's resource usage helps you identify bottlenecks and plan upgrades.

CPU and Memory — htop

apt install htop -y
htop

htop shows real-time CPU and memory usage per process. Press F10 to quit.

Disk Usage

df -h          # Disk space by partition
du -sh /var/*  # Space used per directory

Memory Usage

free -h

Network Traffic — nload

apt install nload -y
nload

Processes

top        # Built-in process viewer
ps aux     # Snapshot of all running processes

System Logs

journalctl -f           # Live system logs
tail -f /var/log/syslog
