Installing Cockpit

Cockpit is a lightweight, browser-based server management interface built into many Linux distributions. It is ideal for customers who want a GUI for common admin tasks without the overhead of a full hosting panel.

Install on Ubuntu/Debian

apt update
apt install cockpit -y
systemctl enable --now cockpit.socket

Install on CentOS/AlmaLinux/Rocky

dnf install cockpit -y
systemctl enable --now cockpit.socket

Allow Through Firewall

ufw allow 9090

Access Cockpit

Open your browser and navigate to: https://YOUR_SERVER_IP:9090

Log in with your Linux username and password (e.g., root).

  • Terminal: Full browser-based terminal — no SSH client needed
  • Services: Start, stop, enable, and disable systemd services
  • Storage: View disk usage, manage partitions and RAID
  • Networking: View interfaces, configure bonds and bridges
  • Logs: Browse journald logs with filtering
  • Accounts: Create and manage users
  • Updates: Apply OS updates from the browser

Install Optional Plugins

apt install cockpit-podman        # Manage Podman/Docker containers
apt install cockpit-machines      # Manage virtual machines (KVM)
